Matrimony presumes the Catholic party is a practicing and supporting parishioner. The Catholic parties to a proposed wedding should be registered as individuals in some Catholic parish, with one of them being a member of the parish in which they wish to celebrate their wedding. As young adults, their membership is not an extension of their parents' status. Extensive preparation will involve evaluative instruments and private/couple conversation with the Pastor. A prior marriage by either party in any form is a barrier to a wedding in the Catholic Church. Discussing the circumstances of a prior marriage may suggest the possibility of requesting a nullity investigation. Not all marriages that fail are able to be declared null.
The Sacrament of the Sick consists of several rites adaptable to the condition of the individual requesting the sacrament. The Anointing of the Sick should occur early in an illness. Please request the sacrament from the Pastor who will be happy to celebrate it in your home or hospital. The "Last Rite" is the final conscious communion a person receives. Family members are encouraged to keep the parish informed of the progression of their loved ones illnesses.
